Mobility and Inactivity

Mobility issues can be caused by age, illness, inactivity or a combination of these factors. Daily exercise is essential for maintaining good health, and muscle strength.

As strength and mobility decreases, this can impact both physical and emotional wellbeing. The emotional impact can be severe both on you, as well as your friends and family who help with daily tasks.

Complications of immobility:

Prolonged periods of inactivity and immobility can cause health complications in almost every major part of the body system:

  • Long periods of bed rest make it difficult to expand the lungs fully. This increases the risk of lung infections.
  • Bed rest leaves blood to pool, particularly in the legs. Blood pressure overtime decreases as the risk of blood clots increases. Swelling is a common symptom.
  • Pressure sores may develop quickly because the oxygen supply is curtailed and pressure is elevated.

Common causes of mobility problems may include:

  • Long periods of inactivity such as long term bed rest
  • Pain
  • Difficulty in standing or walking
  • Lack of sleep
  • Various illnesses and ailments

Your symptoms may include:

  • Restricted range of movements of the joints
  • Swelling and fluid retention
  • Sore muscles and aching joints
  • Pain or stiffness
  • Warmth and redness of the skin, especially over the joints

Inactivity and lack of mobility also increases the chances of developing poor circulation. Walking for just 10 minutes per day could give you great benefits. Simple exercises whilst sitting down like curling and uncurling your toes, rotating your ankles and moving your legs up and down could help maintain healthy circulation.

The Circulation Booster® v3 has been scientifically tested to see if it could help improve poor circulation, reduce swelling in your lower legs and feet and alleviate tired, heavy and aching legs. Our studies have shown that 40 minutes of inactivity in healthy people resulted in poor circulation and swelling. After using the Circulation Booster® v3 for only 10 minutes, this could be alleviated.
